Archival collections in physiology.
Archival collections are important in preserving our historical heritage. An example of a new archival collection in high-altitude physiology and medicine is described. Physiologists should be more aware of the historical value of primary material and should be encouraged to offer their papers to an appropriate archival repository.
متن کاملSCIENCE - ADVERTISEMENTS Announcing ! AN INTRODUCTION TO THEI PLANT SCIENCESI
This book offers a concise account of the nature of the plant kingdom. It is intended for use by students in a half-year or one-semester course in botany or plant biology. The chief aim of the book is to broaden the student's outlook and to acquaint him with the natural sciences. Laboratory instruction should be used to supplement the book; experiments are included, so arranged that they may be...
متن کاملWidespread mistaken identity in tropical plant collections
Specimens of plants and animals preserved in museums are the primary source of verifiable data on the geographical and temporal distribution of organisms. Museum datasets are increasingly being uploaded to aggregated regional and global databases (e.g. the Global Biodiversity Information Facility; GBIF) for use in a wide range of analyses. Thus, digitisation of natural history collections is pr...
متن کاملMetabolomics in plant environmental physiology.
Changes in plant metabolism are at the heart of plant developmental processes, underpinning many of the ways in which plants respond to the environment. As such, the comprehensive study of plant metabolism, or metabolomics, is highly valuable in identifying phenotypic effects of abiotic and biotic stresses on plants. When study is in reference to analysing samples that are relevant to environme...
